BIS Concentrations in Public Administration, Public Policy, & Nonprofit Management
Students in the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program may pursue a concentration in one or more of the following areas: Public Administration, Public Policy, and Nonprofit Management.
The BIS is offered on-campus or online. Both programs provide for a well-rounded education, with the ability to specialize in several areas of concentration. Students earning a BIS degree from Georgia Southern are well prepared for a variety of careers and graduate programs, including the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies’ nationally accredited Master of Public Administration program.
Public Administration Concentration
The Public Administration Concentration is designed for students interested in the study and practice of public and nonprofit management. The concentration is comprised of courses focusing on issues related to the delivery and management of public programs, public policy analysis, leadership and innovation management, budgeting and financial management, administrative law, and civic engagement and responsibility.
This Concentration is available for those students wishing to study FULLY ONLINE.

Public Policy Concentration
The Public Policy Concentration prepares students by developing the skills and knowledge needed to respond to policy issues. The concentration provides students with an understanding of the fundamental elements involved in the public policy process and the analytical skills necessary to make informed judgments about policy-making, policy implementation, and substantive policy outcomes.

Nonprofit Management Concentration
The Nonprofit Management Concentration prepares students by developing the skills and knowledge needed to identify and examine organizational theories and behavior as they apply in nonprofit/nongovernmental organizations, including issues of work design and implications of operational policies and practices.
This Concentration is available for those students wishing to study FULLY ONLINE.
