About the Department

The Department of Psychology is dedicated to student instruction, serving the community, and the discovery of knowledge through empirical research.

Student Instruction

The Department houses student computer labs dedicated to Statistics and Research Methods courses. These computer labs allow students hands-on experience with research methodology, data collection, and statistical software for data analysis.

The Peer Mentoring Center (PMC), located in Brannen Hall, Room 1009, offers students help with  Statistics, Research Methods, and other courses. The PMC is staffed by advanced students who are able to help with questions regarding designing a study, analyzing data, and writing papers in APA format.

Community Services

The Psychology Clinic offers low-cost mental health services to the community.

The Regents Center for Learning Disorders (RCLD) provides psychological testing services to students in the region.

Research

Within the Department, we are committed to research and service targeted at eliminating mental health disparities, particularly among those from rural and underserved populations. The Department houses laboratory space in which faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students are actively engaged in the discovery of knowledge.

Additionally, the Rural Health Research Institute (RHRI) is dedicated to improving health in rural areas through promoting cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research that connects researchers from diverse fields across numerous academic units.
