Dr. Jacek Lubecki

Biography

Dr. Jacek Lubecki was born in Poland and studied law and romance languages at the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan. He received his Ph.D. in International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies, University of Denver in 2000 and taught at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (1998-2000, and at Millikin University (2000-2005) in Decatur, Illinois. Between 2005-2012 was Coordinator of International Studies and of Middle Eastern Studies, and Assistant, and, since 2009, Associate Professor of Political Science, at University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He came to Georgia Southern University in 2012. Among others, Dr. Lubecki taught classes on US foreign policy, terrorism, counter-insurgency, politics of Russia, and politics of the Middle East. On July 1, 2012 he became Assistant Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Director of the Center for International Studies at Georgia Southern University (GSU). On July 1, 2015 he stepped into the Associate Professor position at the Political Science Department at Georgia Southern University. He became full professor in 2022. His publications include articles such as “Echoes of Latifundism” (Eastern European Politics and Societies, winter 2004), “Poland in Iraq” (The Polish Review, summer 2005),  and “Reconstructing Galicia” (Europe-Asia Studies, 2010). He also published articles on Polish military history in the popular journal “The Armchair General.” His article on Jozef Pilsudski as a military leader was published in The Polish Review in 2011. Since then, he published several books, mostly on topics of defense policies of East-Central Europea and the Balkans.

As an academic Dr. Lubecki is an expert on East/East-Central European and Middle Eastern politics, terrorism, counterinsurgency, and global military and defense issues. He speaks (with varying levels of fluency) Polish, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, and some Arabic. He also has some knowledge of Latin and Japanese.
