Biography
Margaret “Maggie” Hinchey Deleon is a Visiting Instructor in the Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at Georgia Southern University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Education at Sewanee: The University of the South in 2009 and earned her Juris Doctorate from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2012.
She is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and for the last nine years was a prosecuting trial attorney in the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office, assigned to the Major Crimes Division-Special Victims Unit, handling homicides, sexual assaults, kidnappings, and other violent felonies. She is also an active law enforcement instructor and trainer for several local agencies in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, and vulnerable adult crimes, with a strong focus on evidence-based investigations and trauma centered techniques.
