Curriculum Vitae

Biography

Kristin Watkins graduated with honors from Georgia Southern in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice and Criminology. Throughout her undergraduate work, she worked during the summers for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and gained hands-on criminal justice experience. She worked for the Investigations, Administration, and Jail divisions in the sheriff’s department, as well as being able to sit in on court proceedings.

After achieving her BS, she went straight into the Criminal Justice and Criminology graduate school at Georgia Southern where she was also a Graduate Assistant (GA) for Criminal Justice faculty Barbara King and Darby Williams. After her time as a GA, she became a Teaching Assistant (TA) where she was able to teach courses for Georgia Southern. It was during this time that she realized she wanted to be a teacher. Watkins graduated in Spring of 2020 with her Master of Science (MS) in Criminal Justice and Criminology. In Fall of 2020, she accepted a part-time instructor position with the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. In Fall of 2021, she accepted a job as full-time limited term faculty.

Watkins is quick to express how grateful she is to become a part of and teach alongside the same group of faculty that taught me during my college career. She wishes to give back and to use the education and inspiration she gained by instructing the next generation of Criminal Justice and Criminology students at Georgia Southern University.
