GS Dept. of Criminal Justice Represented at Neighborhood Cleanup in West Savannah
Dr. Chad Posick, Associate Professor for Georgia Southern’s Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, and Chris Mathis, senior criminal justice and criminology student, attended a neighborhood clean-up in West Savannah on March 30th as part of the grant funded Innovative Prosecution Solutions project.
This project identified neighborhoods high in gun violence and strategically focused enforcement on violent gun offenders while offering diversion opportunities and services for non-violent offenders. The neighborhood clean-up was a way to give back to the community and establish ties between the District Attorney’s Office and local citizens. Here, Chris is discussing his work with Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach and District Attorney Meg Heap who were part of the cleanup.
