Dr. Chad Posick has joined the Ochsner Institute for Injury Research and Prevention at Memorial Hospital in Savannah. The Institute is committed to preventing community violence, trauma, and abuse. Dr. Posick’s role will be to provide research support, program evaluation, and pursue grant funding for project activities. Currently, he is working closely with the Savannah Violence Intervention Program (VIP) which collaborates with Memorial, Candler, and St. Joseph’s Hospitals to intervene in violent community conflict. The program targets individuals who come to the attention of medical staff at the hospitals after a violent injury. Program outreach workers are promptly alerted in these cases in order to meet with the victim to intervene in any potential retaliation or repeat victimization.
