Dr. Jonathan Grubb Joins the Department

Jonathan Grubb PhotoDr. Jonathan Grubb has joined the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology. Dr. Grubb received his B.S. in Sociology (2009) and M.S. in Criminal Justice (2011) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University (2015) after successfully defending his dissertation which reframed an integrated criminological theory to predict violent victimization in a sample of juveniles. His research interests focus on victimological theory, victimization of immigrant and minority populations, attitudes and perceptions held by criminal justice professionals, spatiotemporal analysis of crime, and arson. Recent publications by Dr. Grubb have appeared in the Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Trends in Organized Crime, as well as Victims & Offenders. Aside from research, Dr. Grubb has worked in collaboration with the Hamilton County Coalition and Chattanooga Fire Department to provide at-risk youth a prosocial outlet and role models through participation in the Young Citizen’s Academy, a set of diverse semimonthly courses offering hands on experience in the development of skills and knowledge used by firefighters. When he has free time, he enjoys cooking and traveling to new places.
