Criminal Justice and Criminology Faculty Serve National Organizations

Dr. Sharon Tracy has been appointed to the National Governing Board and Editorial Board of the National Social Science Association (NSSA). Dr. Tracy was selected by the executive director, Jerry Baydo, and other NSSA members to serve on these boards, and a detailed summary of her involvement in the organization has been featured on my.georgiasouthern.edu. Notably, Executive Director Baydo has stated, “This honor reflects well on her fine work and upon Georgia Southern University and its administration.”

In addition, Dr. Laurie Gould was elected to serve a three-year term as a Councilor in the Social Sciences Division for the National Council on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). According to their website, the National Council on Undergraduate Research is “dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students… [and] creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement, provides models of exemplary research and scholarship, and helps to improve the state of undergraduate education.” Dr. Gould’s elected appointment serves to emphasize the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology’s commitment to engagement in undergraduate research.
