Birth-Kindergarten Teacher Education Degree Concentration

Location: Hybrid on Statesboro and Armstrong Campus

Students graduating with a degree in Human Development and Family Science with a concentration in Birth-Kindergarten Teacher Education are eligible to apply for a Georgia teaching certificate.

The goal of the Birth-Kindergarten Teacher Education concentration is to prepare you to work professionally with children and their families in a variety of settings, including serving children with special needs. This early childhood education program takes a holistic approach to addressing the diverse needs of children and families to ensure high quality and equitable classroom experiences for each and every child.

Applications are currently being accepted. 

There are two tracks for students to choose:

Certification Track

The Certification Track allows you to be eligible for a Georgia Teaching License: Certification Track Catalog Page.

Student teaching opportunities in:

  • Public pre-kindergarten
  • Public kindergarten
Student teacher in classroom

Non-Certification Track

The Non-certification Track allows you to teach in a variety of private and non-profit early childhood settings: Non-certification Track Catalog Page.

Student teaching opportunities in:

  • Head Start and Early Head Start
  • Child development centers
  • Preschool programs
