Psychology Professor Interviewed by WJCL
Jeff Kilbert, Ph.D., was interviewed and featured on WJCL’s 22 News in a story about the impact of social media streaming of live violent events on the viewer.
Kilbert discussed how the raw nature of the content bring about heavy emotions like anger, frustration, fear, and sadness.
“It’s not like I can pluck that out of my memory, and pretend it never happened,” he told WJCL. “Just like it’s happening in live time, when you’re watching that video, you’re watching it and inevitably because of the violence, because of the traumatic nature, at some level it’s going to stick with you.”
Kilbert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology.
